Peppermint has just received more details of the new 2010 Phil and Teds Explorer buggy, this is the replacement for the current Phil and Teds Sport and will be available sometime in August 2010.
Phil and Teds been busy and it seems like the new Explorer will be the next must have Phil and Teds buggy. The Phil and Teds Explorer has an all new chassis which now has a one handed folding mechanism, a feature we have seen in some single buggies but it has now come to the Phil and Teds range, a vastly improved peddle style brake system which is easy to operate. The Explorer now also shares a Vibe style follow me sun hood, this sun hood is completely adjustable and features a pop out sun visor making it much easier to shade your baby or toddler.
If you are using the Explorer as a double the new Explorer double kit will also now come supplied with a sun visor for the child in the back seat but does loose the ability to recline. Reclining however on the main front seat has been vastly improved upon the Sport, the Explorer now features a Dash style variable recliner a great improvement on the sport's system.
Another major change to the Phil and Teds Explorer is the ability to mount a car seat on the front of the buggy and still carry a toddler in the back, not something which was recommended in the Sport, Dash or Vibe. This has been made possible by shifting weight distribution around so the buggy will now not tip is you have the larger child in the back seat with a car seat on the front. This feature will mean the Phil and Teds Explorer is a true travel system for a baby/toddler combo.
Now to the all important colours, the Explorer will be available in 5 colours, black and red, Black and Grey, Navy and Grey, Black and Green and all Green. Once we have some images later on this afternoon they will be posted on our blog. All the staff at Peppermint think that the Explorer will be the best Phil and Teds buggy in the range so demand will be high. If your looking to purchase a Phil and Teds buggy soon give us a call and place your pre-order for the New Phil and Teds Explorer, i don't think you will be disappointed.

Does the back seat still allow an infant to lay flat?
Posted on July 21, 2010 at 6:02 am
Hi, there will be more details and photo's about the New Phil and Teds Explorer on our blog today, however the rear seat does not feature a recliner any more. The rear seat was never able to lye flat it only had a small recline which would be suitable for a baby from 6 months. The new Phil and Teds Explorer will however be able to fit a car seat on the front and carry a toddler in the rear seat or the Explorer also has a newborn/toddler set up. This is where the toddler will seat up front and the main seat reclines.

Do you know the size of the explorer as one of the best features of the sport was that is was narrow?
Posted on July 23, 2010 at 4:40 pm
Hi, the new Phil and Teds Explorer will be around the same size as the Sport, we do not have any official dimensions from Phil and Teds on the Explorer yet but as soon as i have the Explorer chassis size i will post them on our blog. I have just been speaking to Phil and Teds and we are also trying to get an Explorer demo buggy before their first shipment hits the UK, once in we will let you know.

I am in need of a Phil and Teds ASAP and was going to buy the Dash. Should I wait for the new Explorer. How much will it retail for with the double kit?
Many thanks

Hi, thanks for your comments, the new Phil and Teds Explorer will retail for £399.95, explorer doubles kit £69.95, Explorer cocoon £49.95 and £21.95 for the Phil and Teds Explorer double rain cover. We had a meeting with Phil and Teds yesterday and it looks like we will be getting one of the 5 New Explorer buggies landing in the UK in the next few weeks. This Explorer will be on display in one of our stores soon.

Hi
Could you tell me if the sport cocoon and sport double raincover will fit the new explorer. I already have the sport model but thinking about upgrading, but dont wish to have to buy all new accessories also
Thanks

Hi, The New Explorer and Sport cocoon are the same. You will need to change your sport rain cover as this is not compatible with the new Explorer.
Thanks

Hi,
My toddler has only just turned 2 but is very tall for his age and one on the way. We have tried him out in the main seat of the sport and there isn't a great deal of extra length in it for him. Is the explorer likely to have more head height in the main seat?
Thanks

Is the Explorer suitable for twins? I would prefer a narrow wagon

What car seat adapter will come with the new Phil and Ted Explorer? I wish to purchase a car seat for my car that will also accommodated the new Explorer.
Posted on September 22, 2010 at 12:20 am
Hi, you will need to use the following adapter for the Phil and Teds Explorer
This will take the Maxi cosi Cabrio fix and fit straight onto the Explorer buggy. We will soon have an adapter to fit the Maxi Cosi Pebble. Not sure if you know but you can now use the Phil and Teds Explorer with a newborn car seat and toddler in the back.
I hope this helps, if you have any more questions let me know

hello, i have just seen that the new explorer you can use with a car seat and toddler. is there much room for the toddler and will they just be looking at the top of a car seat? (my toddler is 2) also i can not make my mind up between the vibe v2 and new explorer what one do you think is better??
Posted on October 25, 2010 at 7:33 pm
Hi, the new explorer is the only Phil and Teds which is currently available where the toddler can sit in the back seat and you can fit a car seat on the top. The toddler will be looking at the main seat unit but feedback from most parents is that their toddlers like the back seat. We are currently selling both the Phil and Teds Vibe and Explorer very well. The Vibe does have the benefit of a larger hood which offers a toddler more headroom and a brake on the handle bar. All the guys at Peppermint currently like the Explorer for its one handed folding, follow me sun hood, great easy to use brake and hoods both front and rear. I hope this helps

Hi, no problem you can fit the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix and Pebble on the Phil and Teds Explorer. You just need to make sure you get the correct adapters to mount the seat.

Hi have just bought the explorer. I will be using it with the phil and teds bebe car seat I'm just wondering how do I keep the travel system dry when it's raining as I have heard that the double storm cover won't fit the car seat. Very worried about this problem.
Posted on November 11, 2010 at 3:34 pm
Hi I guess you will be carrying a toddler in the back seat and car seat on the front of the explorer. you can buy a rain cover for the Maxi cosi cabriofix however you will not be able to cover the toddler in the back seat. At the moment there is no real solution for this at the moment but i will make sure your feedback is passed onto Phil and Teds and you never know something may come about from this.
thanks

Hi. I am thinking of buying the explorer but I was looking at one in store & the hood (when doubles kit was attached so newborn could fit underneath) kept coming off everytime it was moved, it seemed like the bar the hood fits on was too fat (or the hood clips too narrow). This has really put me off as everytime I folded/unfolded it, it would come off. I'm sure there must be something wrong - have you noticed this problem? How would I get the hood to stay on?? Thanks

Hi, do you know i f the adapter for the Maxi Cosi Pebble to fir on the Explorer is available now? We have the Explorer and will be purchasing our seat on Friday. Planning to get Pebble rather than Cabriofix but this may affect decision.
Thanks
