The Kiddy Energy Pro has recently won European awards for best car seat in class (group 1 or 9kgs to 18 kgs) using its innovative impact cushion design.

Unlike tradition 5 point harness group 1 car seats the Kiddy Energy Pro uses an impact cushion and features no 5 point harness for the child. This can be difficult to get you head round it at first but one you understand the dynamics it makes perfect sense.
In a traditional Group 1 car seat the child is restrained using a harness, this harness holds the sholders and body in place but does not support or restrain the head. In the event of an accident the child is forced forwards, with the shoulders being pinned into the seat and the head and neck not the child can suffer from whip lash injuries following an accident.
The Kiddy Energy Pro takes a very different approach to keeping your child safe, using an impact cushion which fits over the child's lap means you will do away with harnesses leaving the upper torso free to move in the event of an impact along with the head and neck. Energy is absorbed by the impact cushion which sits over the child's lap. Tests have proven that with this form of seat children are less likely to suffer from whip lash injuries. The Kiddy Energy Pro is also very easy to fit, as the seat is not actually fitted to the car each time you travel with your child the lap and shoulder belt is passed through the red guides and into your standard seat belt buckle.
